USAID Delegation Visited Civics Clubs of Ajara Region

On June 7, 2012 Mr. Jonathan Hale,  USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator,  Mrs. Susan Cowley, USAID Democracy and Governance Office Director and Mr. Joakim ParkerUSAID Mission Deputy Director visited Batumi (Ajara region) public school #2 to attend the school civics club students’ photo exhibition and presentation of the achievements reached in the frame of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT) implemented by PH International.

Mrs. Marina Ushveridze, ACETT program Director welcomed guests and participants of the event and made presentation of the results of the ACETT program.

Civics clubs students from different schools of Adjara region maid joint presentation of conducted activities and initiatives, performed pantomime performance and short film about the importance of civic education.                

At the end of the meeting Mr. Jonathan Hale thanked students, teachers and  school administration for interesting presentation and talked about importance of involvement of the students in the democracy development processes in the country through the ACETT program.

Ms. Lamzira Bolkvadze, the Deputy Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Adjara Autonomous Republic, participant of the event also spoke about the involvement of young people in democratic processes and the role of ACETT program. Thanked civics clubs students for the activities and promised to continue actively supporting them.  

The event was attended by representatives of local government, education resource center and non-governmental organizations, members of the  Supreme Council of Adjara, Batumi council, civics teachers, students and school administration.
