On January 28, students from partner schools of Momavlis
Taoba project in Adjara region held a photo exhibition for media
representatives at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Adjara
Journalists got first-hand information about civic initiatives and projects
implemented by students. For young citizens, this was a good chance to interact
with media and promote the work that they have been doing voluntarily to
benefit their schools and communities.
The event was opened by a short presentation of MT
program. Participants learned about the new resources and opportunities that MT
will create to promote school-based civic education and greater civic
engagement of young people.
Guests from TV and Radio companies, print and
online media have emphasized importance of school-based civic education and
appreciated contribution of students and their teachers in promoting
school-based civic education in Georgia. They all agreed that active civic
participation by youth is very important for the development of democratic
society in Georgia.
The meeting helped to increase interest of media
professionals towards civic education. The event was
organized in the framework of the USAID-funded Momavlis Taoba Project, which is
implemented by PH International. The event was supported by MT;s regional
implementing partner -Batumi Education Development and Employment centre.
