On May 11, school-based civics clubs in Adjara launched an information campaign – “Let;s Protect the Earth”. The goal of the campaign was to raise public awareness about environmental issues and involve more youth in environmental protection efforts.
Students marched the street and distributed leaflets about environmental protection. They also took part in a drawing contest and arts exhibition in Batumi Boulevard.
These activities were followed by a flash mob show titled “Protect the Earth”, with participation of students. The campaign was supported by Batumi City Council members of Youth Palace;s “Eco Club and civics students of Batumi schools.
More than 120 students, teachers and guests including representatives of the Forestry Agency, Batumi City Council, non-governmental organizations education resource centers of Batumi and Khelvachauri attended the event.
