GeoLab is a mobile and web application lab that has a very important role in the USAID Civic Education Program. Their help will soon make it possible to integrate modern technologies in the process of teaching and learning civic education.Lana Labadze, CEO of GeoLab, believes that students should learn about modern technologies from an early age: “In the modern world, as technology develops, the flow of information is constantly increasing. It is important for students to know how to analyze information; be able to comply with the social, ethical and security norms, as well as protect their personal information; Develop critical thinking skills and be able to create electronic resources that will help not just their peers, but also adults, to navigate or solve problems in the digital world.”Today we launch Online Summer School with GeoLab, where students will learn about civic education and the basics of new technologies. In addition, work is underway on the Civic Education Web Portal, where courses about web design, mobile applications and game development will be published. Also, a practical course – a laboratory of projects – and hackathons will be held in the framework of the program. As for civic education teachers, GeoLab is planning to host special training sessions to help them integrate modern technologies in the teaching process.”We look forward to discovering talented young people, especially the ones living in the regions, that will implement interesting and useful projects by using modern technologies. We will help them change their lives and their regions for the better and then they will help others to do the same, by sharing the knowledge they’ve gained”, – says Lana Labadze.
