“I’m Irakli Khorava, student of Political Science at The Ilia State University and a volunteer in north Italy under the European Solidarity Corps program.I was 15 when I joined USAID Civic Education Program where I was volunteering at school and in the community, along with school civics club members was elaborating and running civic initiatives and projects, supporting children with Leukemia and ethnic minorities and projects addressing ecological problems.Today I am 21 years old. Last year I started to do international volunteering at Municipality of Lavis in Italy.
During the volunteering, I have been working at the municipality in addition to schools, kindergartens, social enterprise, run by people of special needs as well as in the youth center. I have been working with different age groups, starting with kids from 3 years up to 85 years old elderlies.
Also, I worked and lived with people from various continents, with more than 30 nationalities including migrants. I was teaching the English language and was participating in running different civic projects and initiatives for the benefit of community members.I would like to thank USAID Civic Education program.
After 6 years, I am keeping to use the skills which I gained at school civics club as a member skills that are essential for writing projects, organizing different activities and finding ways of solving problems critical for the community.I wish good health and success to each of you!”
