“Of course, this problem has been relevant for students and their parents for many years. I’m sure many schools like ours have raised this issue with the City Hall, however, as far as we know, we are the only ones (following the full advocacy process) to once again present this issue to the Municipality: We appealed to the mayor of the district (we thank him for the good advice), we appealed to the trustee in the Imerti region (we thanks him for providing an answer), we appealed to the mayor’s office and the city council (we thank them for their decision), we prepared a petition and collected signatures.

Thank you to the members of the student self-government and the people who signed the petition. This whole process lasted three months. As a result of our advocacy, 33,619 students will use municipal transport for free. This happened thanks to many people, including the teachers of Kutaisi Public School #36, who helped me at every stage.”- says Elene Kokosadze, Chairperson of the Student Self-Government.
