Civics club members of Akhalsopeli public school in Kareli municipality arranged a “Friendship Square” in the IDP settlement of the village. The goal of the project was to improve environment of the settlement.Students contacted Khashuri Forest Service to support greening action.

As a result, tree seedlings were provided for the greening action free of charge. The school administration bought paints, whereas community members helped with the technical equipment and other necessary tools to implement the students initiative.The work process was jointly conducted by the internally displaced persons, as well as civic club members, parents and the local population.

The area allocated for the square has been renewed, benches were repaired and painted. Students made fences to protect newly planted seedlings, arranged the flower pots, planted evergreen trees and flower bushes.”It is very important for us that the project was initiated by students, the future generation of the country and of the society.

We believe that their ability to do good things, the civic activities and the desire to find out and solve the problems will benefit our country,”- said Pikria Saralidze the civic education teacher of Akhalsopeli school.
