On January 29, a four-day training course for civics teachers – “Teaching Democratic Citizenship- took start in Tbilisi and Batumi. At the training, teachers learn about basic international concepts of civic education, receive guidance o how to efficiently plan the lessons, develop learning goals and objectives, practice techniques for obtaining additional teaching materials and design their own teaching programs.
“I have been teaching civic education for fourteen years at school and always felt a need to add more to educational process. Now our school became a partner of the MT program and students can apply the knowledge gained at lessons into practice.
This changed attitude of students towards civics said Lia Diasamidze, Civics Teacher from Sachino public school. A total of 480 civics teachers in all regions of Georgia will be trained by the use of MT;s training course by April 2015.
Trainings for civics teachers are organized in the framework of the USAID-funded Momavlis Taoba Project, which is implemented by PH International.
