Charity concert -“Save our Home”

On October 23, 2015 Radisson Blu Hotel, Batumi hosted charity concert organized by MT program partner schools in Adjara region – Batumi Business school and village Tsinsvla public school civics club students. The students; initiative about the charity concert rose after the civics students; volunteer work in Batumi Family Type House and communication with the beneficiaries.

Initially students aimed to support integration of the kids into the society. They often visited the House, helped them to prepare lessons and spent free time with them.

Later they found out that the building of the orphanage was badly damaged and needed rehabilitation but funds for reconstruction of the building were not put into the local budget. Students made video about the needs of the home type orphanage and informed society about the planned charity concert through the social media.

Besides, they spread the information about public offender;s office monitoring results and recommendation that the conditions of the House are not suitable for the orphanage. This could cause the replacement of the kids to the different institutions which could stress the kids once more. During the preparation period, students established cooperation with governmental and non-governmental organizations as well as with business sector who supported the event. The concert was held in Radisson Blu Hotel, Batumi and the concert hall was provided by hotel administration free of charge. Students organized expo-sale of the paintings of orphanage beneficiaries and other civics club students. Funds were collected through the donation box which was placed in the entrance of the concert hall and through the transfers during the concert. More than 200 people attend the concert governmental officials, representatives of NGOs, business sector and media, students teachers and community members. Participants of the concert were youth folk dance and sing groups as well as popular singers, actors and others members of the community. All of them took part in the concert free of charge. Event was covered by local media “Adjara TV and GPB program “Realuri Sivrce live. Results of the charity event: students managed to collect 1000 lari during the concert and received good will of the governmental officials to advocate the problem and pay attention to the needs of Home type House and its beneficiaries needs.
