On May 25, 2015 students of MT partner schools in Adjara region took part in a quiz on civic education “An Active Citizen”, which was held in Batumi. Quiz aimed to promote civic education and increase the knowledge of students in civics.
Questions included information given in different civics textbooks and dictionary. School-based civics club students took part in the quiz together with their younger schoolmates.
Civics club students helped younger students to prepare for the quiz. Selection committee, which included representatives of media and civic education teachers, identified the winners and awarded them with certificates and symbolic prizes.
Olympic torch bearer, (Olympic Flame holder) Nicholas Putkaradze was the guest of the quiz. Mr. Putkaradze shared with students his experience about active citizenship. The event was attended by students, civics teachers, school administration representatives, parents and media. More than 80 students from school-based civics clubs and 90 students of the middle school participated in the quiz. The event was supported by the Society” Mtsignobary”, which prepared the questions for the quiz and awarded winner students. The quiz was organized in the framework of USAID-funded Momavlis Taoba project, which is implemented by PH International.
