A 3-day training on the development and economic sustainability of protected areas was held in Chakvi for teachers and students.

The training was led by Paata Shanshiashvili, a representative of the International Technical Assistance Program of the US Department of the Interior, who discussed such important issues as Sustainable development and national law enforcement and securitySpatial organization and planning services and public use management of natural and cultural resources within the framework of the training, participants visited the Mtirala National Park, which aimed to familiarize them with biodiversity and the rules of behavior on protected areas.

The training was held within the framework of the USAID and USDOI-ITAP NPE program and was attended by students and teachers of schools located near the protected areas of the Ajara region. At the end of the training, participants presented thematic initiatives, the implementation of which will be promoted within the framework of the small grants contest of the USAID Civic Education Program.
