Tbilisi “Iveroni” school students implemented a mini-grant project aimed to increase awareness of peers about the road safety issues. Initially students conducted a survey among the peers to assess their knowledge, attitudes and practices about traffic rules and road signs.

Later, trainings on road safety were held for school students at the school. Patrol police officer held the seminar for school students on importance of following the road safety rules.

To increase traffic awareness among the younger students of the school, civics students organized asphalt painting, presented animation films and organized a contest of paintings for them. In parallel, students conducted an advocacy campaign: they drafted a letter to the regional administration requesting that the street cross “zebra” in front of the school be arranged.

Shortly thereafter, regional administration supported the students’ initiative and soon the street cross will be painted in front of the school.
