School-based civics club students of the village Jandari public school of Kvemo Kartli region organized a meeting for parents and teachers at school to discuss the problem of early marriage. The problem of early marriage is critical for this community, where majority of population is ethnic Azeri.

Participants discussed negative aspects of early marriage, the problem of gender-based violence and the need for human rights protection. They received information about the new regulation in Georgian legislation about early marriage.

Students mentioned that they plan to continue such discussions and inform more people in the community about the negative aspects of early marriage. The meeting was organized in the framework

of USAID-funded Momavlis Taoba Project, which is implemented by PH International.
