The professional development training for civics teachers from different regions of Georgia was held in the framework of civic education “Momavlis Taoba program. This training helped them gain theoretical knowledge and pass civics teachers competency exam successfully.
The training was organized by the Civic Education Teachers Forum. Several teachers shared their emotions and opinions after passing the exam:“Momavlis Taoba program gave me an opportunity to gain my knowledge in various areas of civic education through the training and thematic meetings.
Attendance of professional development training was very important for me because alongside with introduction of theoretical material it was also focused on the development of argumentative discussion and critical thinking. The result became tangible soon: I managed to pass successfully the exam that confirms my competency in civic education subject.
All this experience will help me make my lessons more interactive and interesting for students – said Elene Ogbaidze, civics teacher of the village Gamarjveba Public School in Dedoplistskaro Municipality.“Professional development training helped me to gain my knowledge in project-based learning, it was very important to develop critical thinking by using of illustrations; Conducting discussions on various problems; Identifying issues for discussion and justifying its relevance; Work on sources and draw conclusions. The training helped me to understand how to convey this knowledge to students. Besides, the knowledge gained during the training significantly contributed me and my colleagues to pass the subject competency test successfully- said Shorena Chichinadze -Geldiashvili, civics teacher of Tbilisi Public School №74.
